[ 02 ]INFRASTRUCTURE CONSULTATION

UNDERSTAND FIRST.
ENGINEER SECOND.

Good infrastructure starts with questions. A consultation builds an accurate picture of what exists, what is needed and what should come next.

[ 04 ]DEPLOYMENT & INSTALLATION

ENGINEERED ON PAPER.
DELIVERED ON SITE.

Six stages take a design from the drawing board to working infrastructure, each one checked before the next begins.

  1. Make the site ready.

Review infrastructure readiness, space, rack locations, power, cooling and cable routes before anything is installed.

  2. Build the physical network.

Structured Ethernet and optical-fibre installation: routing, termination, labelling and testing of each link.

  3. Mount and connect.

Server racks, switches, routers, storage and supporting equipment installed, patched and powered.

  4. Bring it to life.

Initial configuration, network connectivity, access controls and integration with existing systems.

  5. Check it works.

Connectivity checks, device verification, performance considerations and documented results.

  6. Hand it over properly.

Documentation, agreed system information and an operational handover to the people who will run it.

[ 07 ]VALIDATION & HANDOVER

DEPLOYMENT ISN’T COMPLETE
UNTIL IT’S VERIFIED.

Before infrastructure is handed over, it is tested, checked against the design and documented, so the people who run it know exactly what they have.

[ 08 ]PRACTICAL INFORMATION

QUESTIONS,
ANSWERED.

Straight answers to what businesses usually ask before an infrastructure project.

Q01What happens during an IT infrastructure consultation?

The consultation starts with your goals and constraints, then reviews what already exists: equipment, network, sites, users and any problems you are seeing. The outcome is a clear picture of requirements and options, which can lead to a design and a proposal for the work.

Q02What information is needed before a deployment?

Typically: floor plans or site details, user and device numbers, the systems that need to run, existing network and internet services, power and space available for equipment, any security or compliance requirements, and preferred working hours for installation.

Q03Can existing infrastructure be upgraded?

Often, yes. An assessment shows which equipment can be reused, upgraded or should be replaced, based on age, condition, support status and capacity. Upgrading in stages is common when it keeps disruption and cost under control.

Q04What is involved in network cabling and installation?

Planning cable routes and containment, installing copper and, where needed, fibre, terminating each run at patch panels and outlets, labelling everything, and testing every link. The results are recorded so the network can be supported later.

Q05How are new servers integrated with existing systems?

Integration is planned before installation: network addressing, identity and access, storage, backup, monitoring and any applications or data to migrate. Changes are scheduled to limit disruption, and services are tested before being moved across.

Q06What should a business consider when planning a server room?

Space and access, rack layout, power capacity and protection, cooling and airflow, cable containment, physical security, fire safety requirements of the building, and room to grow. Sometimes a well-planned comms cabinet or cloud services is the better fit.

Q07What happens after installation?

The environment is validated and documented, then handed over with the agreed information and access. From there it can be supported internally or through an ongoing managed service, with maintenance and refresh planning in place.
